Agile CMMI discussion

The CMMI consultant came to visit us today. A cheerful white-haired chap from New Joisey. He pointed out that this was not a formal appraisal; merely a discussion. After attending our ‘scrum of scrums’ session (there is no equivalent term in DSDM) he spent about an hour with a couple of project managers, a business analyst and a tech lead, asking them about how projects are run.

After that I took him on a tour of the building, then out to lunch and we then spent some time talking about monitoring, tracking, cost control, governance etc. It was a good, lively discussion. I think I got carried away at times because I caught myself talking faster and faster.

At the end of the day, he said we had no glaring deficiencies and any gaps we had already identified and had plans to deal with them. It was further incentive – not that I needed any – to put my governance framework into place and get the change board started. Now I just need the go-ahead.
